Construction of the new bridge is progressing, with the expected completion date 10 August 2025. Construction time has been delayed due to wet weather and construction delays.

The road remains closed 150m east of New England Highway (just past City of Lights Holiday Park), and 50m west of Burgess Lane.

 Traffic control and detour signage are in place. Increased heavy vehicle movements daily between 7am – 6pm, including weekends.

West Bank Road is closed either side of the Dam. Gates close approximately 5km from Woolomin, just past the camping ground, and on the southern side, approximately 4.5km from the Nundle Road intersection. This is a narrow road to turn a caravan. Please note road closure signage at either end of West Bank Road at intersections. It takes significant time for the water to recede, and significant road works are usually required to restore the road surface.

Nowendoc Road at the Port Stephens Cutting - one lane closed at all times. Traffic lights will be in place 24 hours. Very steep road, expect to stop.

Expect delays of up to 15 minutes to allow for slow moving heavily-loaded vehicles movements.

Heavy vehicles encouraged to divert via Walcha, and the New England Highway.
